Bristol Premier Combination February 27th 2026 edition

HALLEN Reserves are sitting pretty top of the Bristol Premier Combination Premier Division table heading into tonight’s tasty Friday night spectacle with Greyfriars Athletic.
The pair lock horns at Mangotsfield United’s Cossham Street stadium (8pm), a venue Hallen have booked with their first team hosting a big FA Vase quarter-final collision with West Didsbury & Chorlton the following afternoon.
Whilst there’s undeniable excitement and intrigue there for the club with Wembley not so far away, so too there is for Hallen’s second string, who had two Jack Williams goals to thank for seeing them to the 2-1 weekend home win over Thornbury Town Reserves which lifted them into pole position in the Premier Division table.
Thorns had led at the break, only to fall to their first defeat of 2026 to a late penalty.
As for Hallen’s Friday night opponents Greyfriars, they’ve had their ups and downs of late but go into the Cossham Street contest encouraged a little by the point gained from a 2-2 New Road draw with mid-table compatriots Nicholas Wanderers.
Jamie Elliott and Jack Sayers netted both sides of the break for Greys whilst Wanderers, who next head to Penpole Lane for a date with bottom-placed Shirehampton Reserves on Saturday (2pm), had Joshua Pearce and Ross Beazer to thank for their share of the spoils.
Shire approach their weekend fixture in good heart too after securing only a second victory of their campaign through Brimson and Baldwin goals in a 2-1 away success over Longwell Green Sports Reserves, who were kept in the contest via Harry Peat’s 73rd minute strike.
DRG Frenchay, meanwhile, remain very much in the title and promotion equation ahead of Saturday’s mouthwatering encounter with top three rivals Iron Acton at Yate’s Lodge Road (2pm).
Whilst Acton’s match with struggling Patchway was called off last weekend with the struggling visitors unable to raise a team, third-placed DRG cracked on unabated to beat Olveston United 3-0 on the road through Emiel Aiken, Dominic Stewert and Antonio Nurse goals to stay three points beneath Hallen with a game in hand.
Bristol Barcelona and fellow Premier Division outfit Shaftesbury Crusade cast aside their league commitments in order to refocus on Uhlsport League Cup activity.
In a tight and competitive confrontation at Lockleaze Sports Centre, it was Barca who progressed to the semi-finals 4-2 courtesy of efforts from Marcin Taras, Taiwo Omotayo, Jose Oliveira and an own goal.
Aidan Fowles and Aron Hartin registered for Shaftesbury.
The outcome means Bristol Barcelona, who first travel to take on Thornbury Town Reserves this Saturday (2pm), will face Shirehampton Reserves in their semis fixture at Oaklands Park next Saturday, March 7 at the same time Iron Acton entertain First Division hopefuls Bedminster Down in their last four tie (both 2pm).
Also in the Prem this Saturday, Olveston host Longwell Green and Winterbourne United entertain Patchway.
Old Sodbury aren’t going away anytime soon when it comes to the enthralling race for the Division One crown and elevation to the top section.
With Lion up next for them on Saturday at Little Stoke Park (2pm), Old Sodbury find themselves second in the table and trailing leaders AEK-Boco Reserves by six points, with three games in hand, after clinically dispensing of Bedminster Down 4-0 on their travels through Charlie Davis’ treble and Will Bennett’s strike.
Hambrook & Brimsham United are also looking the part with three straight wins now under their belt travelling to take on leaders Boco on Saturday (2pm).
They proved too hot for latest hosts AFC Mangotsfield, as Jordan Lawrence’s double, and singles for Tiago Mateus, Ellis Tremlett and Jay Watkins, saw Hambrook & Brimsham to a fifth win of their programme in style with a 5-1 success.
Joe Alston netted with Mangotsfield’s consolation.
The one other game played at Abson Road proved quite a spectacle, as hosts Pucklechurch Sports, with Ben Shaw, Jake Edwards and Adam Young on target, fought out a 3-3 draw with a spirited Hanham Athletic Reserves outfit securing only a fourth point of their troublesome season.
Hanham hope for more of the same, if not better, from this Saturday’s trip to take on high riding Chipping Sodbury Town Reserves.
Elsewhere in the second tier, Bedminster Down entertain Oldland Abbotonians Reserves, and Cribbs A welcome Pucklechurch to the Lawns (both 2pm).
